Yves Saint Laurent dies

Fashion Icon Yves Saint Laurent died late last night after a long illness at the age of 71, 50 years after he made cheif designer at the House of Dior.

Yves Saint Laurent had many admirers including, Princess Grace o Monaco and Picasso’s daughter Paloma. His work transformed the female physique with sexy and elegant clothes and introduced the trouser suit adding an element of dominance to womens fashion.

Yves Saint Laurent made clothes for real women that were fashionable, empowering, sophisticated and still sexy, he lead the way for modern women to follow with sharp business suits women became much more respected in the cut throat world of business but didn’t lose their femininity.

Yves Saint Laurent moved on to create his own fashion label branching out into perfumes and makeup with his business and personal partner Pierre Berge. Yves was an elusive designer who in later years shied away from the media instead of basking in the rays of publicity.

Yves Saint Laurent was a pioneer in the fashion world and his designs will live on as being controversial and contemporary combining sexuality with intelligence.
