Time Lapse Photography

There are many different types of photography most people think of fashion or portrait photography but another interesting style is Time lapse photography. This is when you get your camera to take photographs at different time intervals. For example you could set your camera to take a photograph every 10 minutes or whatever interval you set it at for a series of images lsting as long as yoou like. When you display the images at a faster rate of speed it gives the impression of time passing quickly.

I once did a series of images like this showing a regular student house and every hour the camera was set up to take an image. It showed the interaction between members of the house, the difference in light as day tourned to night etc.

Time Lapse photography is most often used in films or on television to show traffic situations or a building being constructed etc. It is ideal for sunsets, cloud movement and other nature shots.

Time lapse photography is better to be done using a Digital camera but it can be done using film. A lot of digital cameras come with software which can control the camera enabling you to set a time interval for your photos. These images can then be easily made into a movie file.
