Practical Photography

Once upon a time photographs were considered magical as they captured your image and put it on film, over the years the novelty has warn off and a photograph doesn’t even amaze a child any more. Photography is all around us and its hard to think that years ago people even believed that spirits or fairies lived in the magic box we call a camera.

I feel a little sad that the art of photography is taken for granted these days as people can pick up a camera buy photoshop and make something decent. I’d love to show someone 100 years ago some shots I have done, edited and unedited and I’m sure they would be amazed but as the medium has developed people have pushed boundaries and photography has become something of a cliche!

Some people believe that the camera steals your soul and although I don’t believe it I would like for some of the mystery and wonder to be brought back into the trade. There is a lot more to it than point and click and I wish we could find some way of bringing the magic back into photography.
