Practical Photography

For the first time ever a media training centre and the Press Assosciation have collaborated to develop a new press photography degree.

East Coast Media Centre, in Grimsby, are the first to introduce a two-year foundation course which is specific to Press photography and starts in September.

Press Assosciation staff be on site to teach modules with tutors who have experience in the industry all part of the Grimsby Institute of Further and Higher Education.

Photography is a diverse industry and Press photography is as much a core module as fashion photography or landscape photography etc. As part of the course students will experience and develop skills needed in a 21st century newsroom atmosphere things like digital processing, video production and how to operate on a picture desk.

Skills such as newspaper practice, media law and public affairs will be taught alongside Practical photography needed in any photography environment.

The degree will have compulsory work experience integrated into the course so students will get to taste the real hustle and bustle of press photography in the real world.
