Portfolios

All Photographers should have a portfolio, this could be online, on cds or the classic printed portfolio.
If hiring a photographer you should always ask to see the photographers portfolio this is a good indication of their style or versatility. Online portfolios are good as they are easily accessible to the masses, employers, curators and the general public can access a photographers work whenever the wish.
It is usually a good idea for photographers to put their work online using their own website rather than online photo sharing sites like flickr, this is much more professional and comes across much more professional.
Most photographers also have a printed portfolio, this wouldn’t display as many images as an online portfolio but as photographs are meant to be printed it is good to see the actual quality of the the work. The low resolution on a web sized image (72dpi) can often hide a multitude of sins!
A printed portfolio is professionally printed and displayed usually in an A4 or A3 book/binder and is madeup of the photographers, favourite/best work.
