Poetry and Photography

Daffodils
Poetry and Photography are two creative art forms that go hand in hand with each other although most photographers and Poets do not realise this.

There is often a dispute amongst critics that photography as a medium should be considered an art form but I completely disagree with that. A good photographer composes an image and can capture emotions, humour, sadness it can be satirical and challenges peoples views and opinions and a good photograph sparks conversation or tells a story its self. Photogrpahers use depth of field, light, perspective and many other techniques to get a message across.

Two diferent photographers can look at the same subject but the photos they produce can look completely different and express a different feeling or emotion.

Poetry uses language to express these things, take Wordsworth and his daffodils, one poet will look at a daffodil and write one thing but a truly good poet such as Wordsworth can open peoples minds to this comon flower and make it beautiful. The art form for both poetry and photography lies with the interpretation from the individual producing it.

Observation is key for both photographers and poets the difference between average and great is the attention to detail and putting your own individual stamp on it
