Photography Competition For Non Photographers

A Photography competition and exhibition open to enthusiastic photographers who take pictures in their spare time.The competition the Blue Ridge Overview Juried Photographic Competition and Exhibit is running for its 29th year in a row and begins on the 28th September until November the 7th at the Wilkes Art Gallery.The idea is for photographers whose main source of income is NOT photography to showcase their work in a controlled environment.
A lot of photographers who work full time in other professions and occupations cannot dedicate the same amout of time to the skills and art of photography and can become intimidated at the thought of exhibiting against full time professionals.
The reception is open from 2 to 4 p.m at the Gallery and holds an awards ceromony at 3 o clock to recognise outstanding pieces. There are 5 different categories;
Landscape,
Flora/fauna,
Architecture/design,
People
and THe photographer’s choice
There is up to $1000 in prizes and a special recognition for Best in Show.
The ompetition was very popular last year I just wish they’d do one in the UK as I’d love to enter such an exhibit and my photography has to take a back seat to my career.
