Photographing Children

Never work with children or Animals!

This is the age old saying but in my point of view these are some of the best subjects to work with.

When working with children there are strict rules and you have to have a consent/ release form signed by the parent or guardian. This is very important went taking photographs of children and using the images for any purpose, I usually make sure the parent/ guardian is present at the shoot for mutual protection.

Although the regulations are strict working with children can be great fun! To try and get rigid poses and scheduled compositions can be very hard as children are incredibly hard to direct. Although if you go in with a general idea of the images you want or need and stay flexible with an open mind you can let kids go wild and just enjoy themselves.

You end up with natural poses, great images and the kids, yourself and everyone involved have a great time!

You have to be quick and observant and always have your camera ready as you never know when the shot is right.
