Practical Photography

David LaChapelle began his career as a bus boy in Studio 54 in New York before working in Andy Warhols office Interview. His Big Break as a photographer came when Details Magazine gave him the chance to Art Direct, this gave LaChapelle the chance to fantasize and create compositions, after that magazines queued up to comission these daydreams come to reality.

David LaChapelle was a self confessed anthropologist although his compostitions were painstakingly thought out LaChapelle loved to include that human element, like a yawn in the background this added touches gave already imaginative images an added dimension.

LaChapelles career has gone from strength to strength in the late 90’s he received many awards for best photographer of the year, best cover of the year etc from various bodies. His work is bright and colourful, fun and fantastic, his fashion shoots have so much depth and imagination you could sit and look at the photos for hours and still find new bits!
