Oxfam Bridal Shoot

Wedding dresses are very expensive to buy or even rent, and to be honest they’re not the most versatile item of clothing in your wardrobe. Many dresses are worn once and never looked at again. Tradition has it that the wedding dress should be fashioned into the christening gown for your first born child but times are changing and as it is less of a taboo for a child to be born out of wedlock this particular tradition seems to have fallen by the wayside.
So what do you do with your wedding gown that may have cost hundreds and thousands to procure?
Oxfam seems to have the answer… give them to charity!
A dress that has been worn only once, bought for thousands can be bought second hand for a mere couple of hundred pounds, the proceeds go to charity and every one is a winner. The dresses donated are beautiful and in excellent condition…” one careful lady owner”.
Andrew Farrington has produced some exquisite images from the Oxfam bridal collection, dark and melancholy these images use a number of unusual settings and appear to have leapt out of an 18th Century romantic novel. The unique use of lighting and movement give the images a sense of drama.
The models gave their time for free to help the charity Oxfam, as did the excellent stylist Melanie Bertani. The result looks amazing and a lovely promotional piece for Oxfam to promote their second hand wedding dresses.
