New Camera Worries Paparazzi
A German store is boasting a new digital camera that can instantly pload 2 gigabytes of images or videos directly to newspaper editors. This means amateur photographers could under cut professionals by;
‘ambushing celebrities or interfering with police work at the scene of an accident’.
This product has come from an alliance between discount supermarket chain Lidl and Germany’s largest newspaper, Bild.
‘The editors will be assigned specifically to review it for publication to Bild’s website or in print,’ according to an article published by Associated Press.
This has left Paparzzi and photo journalists quaking in their boots as they feel any one with this camara can get a shot and make money from it whereas people who do this for a living will miss out. It also questions the quality of the images;
‘It poses a threat to quality journalism, the more images from non-professionals that are pushed onto the market even though professional images are available.’
The newspaper have claimed that they already get thousands of images from ameatures sent in and each one is edited and monitored before going to print this software will just give them more to vet. The software will also allow videos to be uploaded directly to You Tube.
The Lidl camera also allows users to upload video direct to the YouTube website.
