Mr Giraffe Wins Photography Award

A Salisbury based photographer has recently won an award for his work this photo can be seen on tax disc holders at Halfords stores across the UK.

The photographer, Chris Pethick, entered the pictorial and illustrative category at the British Professional Photography Awards, and the winning image entitled ‘Mr Giraffe’.

The competition was open to professional photographers from around the world and hundreds of photographers entered including companies attended the ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in Newcastle.

The awards are the lovechild of the Master Photographers Association and the British Institute of Professional Photographers (BIPP).

Chris Pethick studied at Wiltshire College, Salisbury, and one this prestigious award for his humourous image of a Giraffe using bright cartoonlike colours.

Chairman of the judging panel, Simon John FBIPP FMPA was delighted with this year’s entries: “There was a great diversity of imagery, and all were judged on the same criteria - artistic merit, good use of lighting, composition and print quality - all the winners were of a very high overall standard. Winning a BPP Award is a huge honour for any photographer and I hope each winner uses their award to help further their careers.”
