Monet Masterpiece Worth Millions!

Monets painting Le Bassin Aux Nympheas was sold for a staggering £40.9 million at auction, nearly double what it was estimated!
The masterpiece was Painted in Giverny in 1919 and has only been seen once in public, the mystery buyer bought the piece at auction yesterday for a staggering £40.9 million. The painting would have been sold at at a record price even if it had gone for the estimated £24 million.
MOnet actually held the last recordwhen his 1873 painting Le Pont du chemin de fer a Argenteuil went for £20.9 m last month.
I have always enjoyed Monets art work especially after visiting his house and Gardens in Giverny a few years ago. Giveny is unspoiled since Monets time and you can still see the beautiful waterlillies and bridge evident in his more popluar paintings.
Monets house intrigued me especially the art work, I would have expected to see early inprossionist art and those of his circle of friends but the hall and landing had japanese prints of Geisha’s and warriors. Perhaps it was this japanese influence that sparked his passion for landscape gardens?
Either way Claude Monet was one of the greats and although I won’t be spending £41m I may get a print for my wall.
