Practical Photography

The housing market is up in the air at the moment, sales have dropped by a third since last year and the credit crunch has halted first time buyers in their tracks. Estate agents are having to think hard about the hard sell as less and less people are buying and house prices although are rumoured to be dropping are still stupidly high compared to a decade ago.

So how do you bring in the sales when no one is buying? The famous words to live by are location, location, location but it seems in todays market it is all about selling the dream and dressing it up. More estate agents are taking their time over photographing the house, when once upon a time you could take a quick snap it now seems you have to approach photographing a house as if you were doing a fashion shoot. Some estate agents are rumoured to have gathered the expertise of professional photographers before going out and taking the pics.

I suppose desperate times call for desparate measures but it’d have to be a very nice house to tempt me to get snapping and they’re the ones that probably won’t need help to sell.
