The credit crunch has slowed things down a bit but when seasonal peaks come around fashion photography is being relied upon more and more. The industry realises ideal times to concentrate their budget and in the fashion world ’tis the season for going out dresses and a lot of photographers get to have some seasonal fun with this.

Fashion photography needs to appeal to their target demographic and stand out from the crowd so having a creative portfolio is good for photographers in this industry. Technically you have to be very good as the majority of these images will be blown up to be used in large window displays or on billboards. The resolution on billboards are not quite as good as they are meant to be viewed at a distance but for large images you need a professional camera, effective lighting and immaculate editing.

This season is party season and going out dresses are going to be everywhere as this is what a lot people will be buying, not just for Christmas but New Years celebrations as well. This means lots of fun for a fashion photographer, as going out dresses will need to be modelled by professional models that are easier to art direct and very photogenic. The party season also inspires movement shots large scenery budgets and good stylists.

Going out dresses are everywhere you have top designers, high street wars and magazine advertising all needing fashion photography that will stand out therefore you need to be unique and have some great art directing skills and ideas for you to be used.

The good news is in these bleak times we should see some excellent photography inspiring us to buy this season.
