DIY Still Life Photography

In the credit crunch everyone is counting the pennies, and the amateur photographer has a tough challenge ahead. A studio set up can cost a lot of money and still life is no exception. If you are serious about your photography and don’t have a lot of money then you should try a homemade studio!
For small studies and still life subjects it is quite easy to use reflectors for your lighting, you can also set up a homemade backdrop andhot lighting panel.
The basic materials you will need for this are :
Duct tape (or strong tape)
A thick, paper.
A shady location on a nice sunny day ( I appreciete this may only apply to one week a year in British summertime).
Something to prop it all up like a chair or a wall.
These basics will not be enough once you get into more complex subjects and portrait and you are of course limited by size but it is enough to get a good background, pictures with less shadows and even light.
The first thing to do is get a nice shady area in a bright location this could be a conservatory your garden or a well lit room. You then need to lean your backdrop(the paper) against a chair or a wall.
Tape the paper down the edges against the wall/chair follow the edge with the tape to the floor. There it is an easy professional backdrop is set up I used my living room as a shady place as it is south facing I get a lot of light coming in throughout the day this enables me to experiment with different light on different days.
