Crime Scene Photography

There are many different styles of photography and one un sung area of the medium is crime scene photography. Crime scene photography is when a photographer takes a photograph of a crime scene. The style of photography is much less glamourous than fashion or editorial photography but has a very important place in society.
Although the esteem of crime scene photography is not as high and you wouldn’t exhibit of show off your work it is essential to society. The photographer will go to the scene of the crime and take photographs of every little detail and will photogrpah bodies in murder investigation etc. You cannot be squeamish to do this job.
Alot of crime scene photographers do other forms of photography in their spare time as it is difficult to be creative as the whole point of the photographer is to give an objective view of the scene of the crime.
There are university courses that teach this style of photography, as you need a certain level of professionalism and respect to do the job. You also have to be aware of what to look out for and what could be used as evidence so a certain level of criminology is included in this, as well as the basics of how to take a good photograph.
Alot of photographers set up crime scene photoshoots for their own work but these are done using models or actors and art direction. Real crime scene photographs are rarely released for public view and often need permission from the courts to be distributed or published.
