Chris Hoy Challenges Photographers

Olympic Champion Chris Hoy is challenging budding press photographers in Scotland to impress him with a photo that captures the moment and inspires viewers.
Chris Hoy has come across many press photographers during his illustrious biking career, he has seen the good the bad and the ugly of photo journalism. Some photographers snap away and get in the way, but some photo journalists produce amazing pictures that inspire and amaze.
‘While my prowess is on the sprint cycling track, I admire photographers who have the ability to capture a magical or defining moment through their lens,’ said Hoy, who is a leading contender for the BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year awards this weekend.
The competiton is aimed to encourage, students, apprentices and freelance photographers in Scotland to enter and show off their skills. The winner can receive a prize of £4,500 and has categories such as news, features and sport.
This competition has become very popular over the past years, last year saw 3,000 entries. But if you are thinking of entering you better get in their quickly as the closing date is January 14th 2009.
