Choosing a Family Photographer
Everyone wants to have photos of their family and loved ones, you want to capture young children so when they grow up you can look back on what they were like and remember them. Children grow up too fast and most families don’t want to miss a minute and celebrate them with photos and family portraits almost every year.
But how do you choose a good photographer, your family are precious and you want to get the most from the shoot. You need to build up trust with your photographer and you need someone both you and your family can relax with.
First thing you need to do is find someone with a good consistent portfolio, not the odd one off decent pic but a good book of images that get the best out of their subjects. You need to like what they do. Some people like photographers that take lots of images that are similar it shows they are consistent. But I prefer a photographer who takes consistently good pictures but can adapt that way they may be more open to what you want.
I would also meet with your photographer before the shoot, get to know them as a person they you can decide if this is someone you want to introduce to your family. Loved ones are prescious and you need to feel secure that you can trust the photographer, more for your own peace of mind.
If you have any doubts ask for references you wouldn’t hire someone without references normally so why should your photographer be any different.
