Canon US offered a rebate scheme to try to get more people to but there line of video players and printers. For customers who bought such items before November the 14th they are being advised not to cash the cheques for fear that they may bounce.

The rebate scheme was entered in to in good faith as a marketing strategy to increase sales during the current economic climate. Unfortunately the third party rebate company they are using is facing bankrupcy therefore many well intentional customers may cash the cheque and it may bounce.

Canon is trying to advise as many customers as possible to delay cashing their cheque and are trying to amend the situation by sending out replacement cheques.
