I believe there are a lot of less skilled wedding photographers out there and some who don't deliver on their contracts. This may happen when the photographer doesn't have enough good pictures to fulfil the contract. It does not justify the problem but it can happen and should be dealt with in the contract.

One way around this is for the photographer to charge an hourly rate and have a seperate charge for more refined editing and then the prints. I agree that time scales for editing and prints should be mandatory as should be for the payment thereof as there are just as many wedding photographers who get let down by the bridal couple who don't pay their bills. Their dreams and expectations are sometimes bigger than their bank balance.

Not all builders let you down either.
