Barbican Showcases War Photographs

The Barbican is holding a photography exhibition showing off the greatest war photography around including greats like Magnum founder Robert Capa.
Capa’s most famous war time image Falling Soldier from the Spanish Civil war is to have pride of place in the upstairs gallery. It is Robert Capas work that will bring in the crowds but the rest of the work is outstanding and gives other lesser known photographers to be appresciated in their own right.
One of the unsung heros is Gerdo Tara who worked on the front line of the Spanish Civil War, Taro was the first woman known to shoot photographs in battle and her images are arguably as good as Capas.
Both photographers are featured in the Barbicans exhibition and are well worth going along to. The image expose the true brutality of war from people who were right their in the middle of it, they also show the friendship, compassion and raw emotions brought out when people are forced to go to battle.
