3D Photography?

Microsoft have developed new software that enables us to view our digital photographs in 3D!
Photosynth uses a number of photographs taken of a scene from different angles, it then detects anchor points and to work out depth perception and produce a 3D experience that we can send to a friend for them to walk or fly through therefore experiencing it themselves.

Unfortunately you have to use a lot of different images of a scene, in different lights, times of the day and the majority of tests have been done using more than one photographer to get the most effective results.

With the extensive layering techniques and analysis of the software the amount of detail scanned becomes very intricate and microsoft have developed a 2nd software to “zoooom” into the images.

Seadragon lets you zoom right into the image as if you could just walk right up to the feature in real life, and it doesn’t matter about the size of the image either it could be as little as 1 gb and you can still zoom into it with excellent clarity and no pixelation.

This innovative technology is relatively new so isn’t available for your family postcards just yet.
